• What teacher preparation programs do you have?

• How large are the classes I would be in?
  Your education classes will range in size from about 15-25 students.



• Will my professors know me and have time for me?
  Yes and yes! Our professors are very student oriented. They know each and every student in their classes and are there to help you. We encourage students to stop by our offices whenever they need to.



• How will I know what classes to take?
  Each student will be assigned a faculty member as their Academic Advisor. The advisor will meet with the student to plan the student's class schedule.



• How many elementary/middle/secondary students are there at the College of St. Scholastica?
  The numbers obviously vary, but there are usually about 100 elementary/middle and 50 middle/secondary students at the College of St. Scholastica.



• Can I finish in four years?
  The best way to answer this is to say that over the last few years about 80% of elementary/middle students graduated in four years and about 50% of middle/secondary students did. Some of the middle/secondary majors have many credits and require 4+ years to complete.



• Will I get to work with students in the schools very much?
  Yes, you will. One of our strengths is the amount of time our students spend in the local schools working with students. In the first Education class you will take and in most classes, you will have the opportunity for hands-on work with students.



• Just how good is the Education Program at the College of St. Scholastica?
  Let's put it this way. We are committed to excellence in preparing teachers and have a strong and growing reputation throughout the state for doing an excellent job.



• When do I student teach and for how long?
  Typically student teaching is done during either the fall or spring semester of your senior year. You will student teach for about fourteen weeks.



• Will I be able to get a teaching job when I graduate?
  That depends on a number of things, such as how well you do as a student and as a student teacher and what geographic area you want to teach in. Many of our students get jobs beginning the fall after graduating. We have found that our best students are very well received in the school community and are very marketable.
